An Elrow We’ll Never Forget

Elrow, Ibiza is bringing us a Virtual Opening party at Amnesia on June 7th, with a line-up of Cuartero, Chelina Manuhutu, Francisco Allendes, Manu Gonzalez and Mar-T. The ‘Summer of Love’ soiree will bring decoration, music, performers and their hippy community right to your very own living room.

Even if we are on hold with the normal way of life – it doesn’t mean that the ‘Summer of Love’ event, connection, music, dancing and good vibes has to be on hold too. Now is the time more than ever to come together and find joy and creativeness in the present moment.

Elrow, known for its worldwide (and virtual, during quarantine) Psychrowdelic Trip parties – will sure enough keep up with the flamboyancy and glitz of their tradition. Dancing and lots of confetti will be a must, from whatever dance-floor space that you conjure up at home. And who knows what other tricks they will have up their sleeves for your virtual viewing pleasure?

#KEEPTHEPARTYALIVE is Elrow’s theme for the event, so what does this mean for our party scene today and moving forward? I spoke online to some of Elrow’s global followers and here’s what they had to say.

First off, Shai Desai – from New Jersey: “I believe after we are past the crisis, the scene will be stronger than ever.”

Whilst attending the colorful, vibrant and playful events in New York city, he is one follower who isn’t shy of an Elrow party. He thinks that during this time of crisis, it’s definitely a good way for party goers to enjoy themselves and for the party scene to remain innovative.

Anna Nelson has twirled around in Elrow’s parties in Barcelona, Ibiza, Miami Music Week, BPM Festival in Mexico and in Dubai (where she currently lives). She believes that these events are a place where you can get lost in the entertainment and fully immerse yourself in the music. And how incredible that we can still do this virtually, with people from all over the world.

Anna thinks that Elrow is one massive burst of colour and it’s extremely visionary, and it’s one of those events that will lift everyone’s spirits.

Yet in the same breath she thinks: “I am still looking forward to the day that I walk into a real rave, with all my friends and see the magic happen for real!”

There are definitely mixed views on #KEEPTHEPARTYALIVE and it seems that the party world wants business to resume as normal. It appears that people want to claim back their love and community on the dancefloor and at these global events.

Shekhar Gurnani – from New York explains to me how the Elrow parties in the past have all boiled down to the environment that it creates. He has visited their events in The Brooklyn Mirage and Electric Zoo – both in the big apple – and watched line-ups from Eats Everything, Detlef, Bicep and wAFF.

“Partying to me is mingling, dancing, and living the moment. Virtual parties are close to what a party is but just a plain video doesn’t do it. You need people around to party,” he says.

Elrow will always be a home and gathering ground for the fun, light-hearted and the eccentrics of our time – so why not let’s keep this fire alive when our communities need it the most?

“As we cannot dance together at the moment, we are going to start the season remotely but with the most important thing… ALL OF YOU,” says the Elrow team on Facebook.

Let’s burn our illusions of how we think everything should look. Take this time to be in present in knowing – that we’re all exactly where we need to be. Even if that’s a first for an intimate Ibiza opening party, with just our household members to dance the night away with. This will be one to go down in history.

Namaste, Larissa.
